Organizational Laws

Name

The name of this organization shall be POWER Organization – People Organizing for Welfare, Equality & Reform.

Purpose

  • POWER is a non-profit, non-political, humanitarian organization committed to:
  • Promoting peace and inter-community harmony.
  • Providing educational support and resources.
  • Addressing mental health awareness and services.
  • Preventing and responding to domestic violence.
  • Delivering disaster relief and emergency aid.
  • Empowering women, youth, and marginalized communities.
  • Assisting and advocating for immigrants and refugees.

Membership

Eligibility: Any individual who supports the mission and values of POWER may become a member.

Rights: Members may vote, participate in programs, and stand for elected positions.

Responsibilities: Members must uphold the organization’s values, participate in activities, and abide by its laws.

Leadership Structure

Chairperson

Leads the organization, oversees all functions, and serves as the public representative.

Vice Chairperson

Assists the Chairperson and assumes duties in their absence.

General Secretary

Maintains records, coordinates meetings, and manages internal communication.

Treasurer

Manages all financial matters and maintains transparent records.

Board Members

Advise and support various programs and committees.

Held monthly or as needed.

Emergency Meetings

Called by the Chairperson or majority board for urgent matters.

Code of Conduct

All members and leaders must:

  • Treat others with dignity and respect.
  • Avoid hate speech, discrimination, or political bias.
  • Maintain transparency and honesty.
  • Protect the privacy of beneficiaries and partners.
  • Act in the best interest of the organization and its mission.

Financial Accountability

Transparency

All financial activities must be documented and available for review.

Audits

An annual audit must be conducted by a qualified third party.

Use of Funds

Donations and grants must be used solely for mission-aligned activities.

Amendments

These laws may be amended by a two-thirds vote of the board and approval from the Chairperson. Members must be notified of any changes.

Dissolution Clause

If the organization is dissolved, all assets shall be donated to a registered non-profit organization with similar objectives, after clearing all liabilities.
